Additionally, EA said a product called "Madden NFL" will come to Google Stadia this winter, but it's unclear what this is. Madden NFL Mobile And Madden NFL For StadiaĮA also confirmed that the Madden mobile game, Madden NFL Mobile for iOS and Android, will introduce a new season of content this summer. More details about Madden NFL 21 will be announced during EA Play Live 2020 on June 18. EA also noted that physical discs won't allow you to upgrade to a next-gen version if you buy a disc-less console (which, as of now, would only apply on the Sony side and its PS5 digital edition). 2K Sports will develop an arcade-style NFL game in the year ahead. That should be no surprise, however, as the EA and the NFL recently agreed to a deal that sees EA remain the exclusive developer of simulation-based NFL games. Yes, that's right, EA Sports has also announced Madden NFL 22 today. Next-Gen "Dual Entitlement" Free UpgradeĪnother thing to know is those who buy Madden NFL 21 on Xbox One or PS4 can get the Xbox Series X or PS5 version for free, so long as they buy the game before Madden NFL 22 is released in 2021. Origin Access Premier members will get all of this, in addition to access to the full game at no extra cost. MVP purchasers will also get various extras for the Ultimate Team mode.ĮA Access and Origin Access Basic members will get time-limited early access to Madden NFL 21, along with some unspecified in-game "perks" and 10 percent off the full game. Early AccessĮveryone who pre-orders the Madden NFL 21 MVP Edition will get access to the game three days early, as well as an "Elite Item and "Power Up" for Lamar Jackson. Additionally, a new Live Playbooks 2.0 feature is coming, along with more content for the uber-popular Ultimate Team mode. This is a greater level of choice than in Madden NFL 20's career mode, QB1, where you could only be a QB.Īdditionally, EA Sports confirmed that Madden NFL 21 is bringing back the X-Factor super-abilities from last year's game, and adding 50 more of these to the mix. In high school, your character is a quarterback, but you can choose to be a running back or a wide receiver when moving to college. In Madden NFL 21, it's called Face of the Franchise: Rise to Fame, and it's described as a "playable documentary." You create a character and then take them through high school, college, and then to the NFL. However, it's best to just play it safe and don't get your hopes up too high as you wait.EA Sports is also bringing back the single-player campaign mode. After backlash following the announcement that Franchise mode wouldn't be receiving much of an update, EA Sports has promised to look into the mode, so it looks as if Madden 21's Franchise mode will be receiving at least some sort of major update. Yes, it doesn't grease the company coffers like Ultimate Team, but come on: MUT is a well-oiled machine at this point, while Franchise has been rusting and gathering dust for essentially forever. It was certainly welcome, though, and with the next-gen consoles coming, the timing couldn't be better for something new and cool.Īlternately, maybe EA Sports will finally give Franchise mode the love and attention it deserves. After all, the only true new mode in Madden NFL 20 was Superstar KO - I'm not counting QB 1 here, as that was more of a refresh to an existing mode - which wasn't in the game when it first released. Will Madden NFL 21 have any new game modes?ĮA sometimes plays the addition of new game modes close to the vest. This year, the members of the 99 Club are: Earlier this month, EA Sports also announced the members of the 99 Club, an elite group of players who are good enough to garner a 99 overall rating in the game. You can check out the full list of ratings over on Madden 21's website, which has access to every stat, right down to kicking power. This year, EA Sports released the ratings for Madden 21 a bit early, giving fans a chance to dive into their favorite player or team and check out who is the best of the best. There's something oddly entertaining about seeing anyone and everyone gripe about who's been done dirty by the ratings folks, along with the laughs that follow when the likes of Tom Brady joke about his own speed number. One of the best parts of any year's pre-Madden hype is the release and subsequent debate/complaining about NFL player ratings for the upcoming game.
